The Style Guide: Aspen vs Whistler, What To Wear On And Off The Slopes On Your Next Winter Vacation

Aspen and Whistler both have a lot in common: skiing, good food options, a nice walkable town. But the two are also quite different in style and overall ambiance.

Aspen is more of a see-and-be-seen destination filled with luxury designer boutiques and trendy restaurants in town. Here, many people come with their mountain chic attire and designer handbags.

Whistler, on the other hand, is a much more low-key and relaxed atmosphere. Whistler Village does not have any luxury designer boutiques – the stores you’ll find are the likes of an Aritzia, a Lululemon, a North Face, and an Arcteryx. Though there are plenty of restaurant options with good food in Whistler, you won’t find the trendy spots popping up outposts from their original LA, NYC, or Miami locations.

Knowing the difference between the two ski destinations will also help in figuring out what to pack and what to wear to either place. Compared to what to wear in Aspen, Whistler is more understated and casual. Though you might catch a couple of people dressed as if they were in Aspen while in Whistler, it’s a fish out of water. You want to look good where you go but know what you are doing.

From the slopes to après ski, here’s a guide on what to pack on your next winter getaway.
