The Summer season will be in full swing soon and the Hamptons will surely be a lively scene. Starting Memorial Day weekend, New Yorkers will start escaping the city heat for the beaches of the East End. A slightly shorter trip than to the end of the world (aka Montauk), East Hampton is not lacking in fresh farm stands, sprawling beaches, a Main Street with chic boutiques and designer shops, and delicious restaurants and cafes.
If you still need a place to stay, these are some of the recommended hotels in East Hampton. Once you’ve finalized lodging and what to pack, here are some of the best restaurants in East Hampton.
SI SI
Inspired by Mediterranean flavors, Si Si recently opened in the new EHP Resort & Marina. Dine al fresco by the water, especially great for the sunset, while enjoying Greek and Italian classic dishes. The food, the view, and the service are all wonderful. Not all restaurants out east are so kid-friendly but at Si Si, the staff are all accommodating and wonderful with families. Head here on the earlier side with little ones and enjoy the view or come here later to enjoy some live music and a dinner out with friends.
CLAM BAR
In Amagansett, The Clam Bar is a perfect no-frills spot for a casual lunch. Right off Montauk Highway, this roadside stand is the perfect pit stop after the beach. Order at the counter and grab a seat at the all-outdoor setting. It gets crowded so time your visit accordingly. The lobster roll here is pretty good but come here for the clam strips and clam chowder.
CARISSA’S BAKERY
The perfect café and bakery with a clean, minimalist and modern design, Carissa’s has unbelievable baked goods and an amazing lobster roll. Pick up pastries and food to go or grab a seat at an outdoor table under white umbrellas. If you’re coming by for lunch, highly recommended is the lobster roll. Though the price isn’t that of a casual lunch, it’s well worth it.
BOSTWICK’S CHOWDER HOUSE
Bostwick’s is a casual, local eatery that has become a frequent stop every visit out east. The menu is seafood-heavy and reliable. The clam chowder is a favorite and their lobster roll is also one of the bests. It’s a great option to balance out trendier (and more expensive) meals, especially if you spend extended amount of time out east.
WOLFFER VINEYEARD ESTATE
Not a destination for a full meal but one worth noting, Wolffer Vineyard Estate is the perfect afternoon stop. Share light bites or a cheese and charcuterie board while sipping on crisp rose. Plan ahead and make a reservation because tables fill up fast. Choose from an indoor table in the tasting room, a covered patio seat, or an outdoor table under the umbrellas on the grounds of the vineyard. Opt for a wine tasting or share Summer in a Bottle.
RITA CANTINA
A recent addition to Springs in East Hampton, Rita Cantina offers an agave-focused cocktail menu and Mexican cuisine using local ingredients wherever possible. The outdoor patio is characterized by white and yellow décor with striped parasols perfect for a casual dinner or happy hour. From 4PM to 6PM, margaritas are $10 and oysters are $1. For dinner, try the short rib birria tacos, Mexican street corn, or one of the many ceviche’s.
IL BUCO AL MARE
Those familiar with the Manhattan location welcome Il Buco Al Mare for its seasonal and local fare. Inspired by its sister restaurant in Ibiza, Bottega il Buco, the menu features imported tinned fish from Italy and the Iberian Peninsula. The menu is on the lighter side, think delicious grilled octopus, and also uses local seafood and produce. Reservations are highly recommended.
MOBY’S
Moby’s is a great place to grab dinner and drinks with a group. There are a lot of shareables and a little something for everyone: pizzas and pastas, light bites, lots of vegetable options and greens. There’s extensive outdoor and patio seating under bistro lights that make for fun yet laid back atmosphere.
NICK AND TONI’S
If you’re looking for fine dining in the Hamptons, you’ll have plenty of choices but Nick and Toni’s is a staple and has been an East Hampton fixture for decades. The menu is full of simple yet well-executed features local product and fish. The Mediterranean-American inspired menu is dependably good and comforting. Reservations can be made for indoor or outdoor seating via Resy.
