TRENCH COAT OUTFITS

One of my favorite transitional outerwear pieces is a classic trench coat. It’s great over jeans for a casual look or thrown over a midi skirt and knee boots for a more sophisticated look – a closet staple. An olive green trench is my current obsession but a classic beige can last you season after season.

Oak + Fort has an olive green oversized trench coat that falls mid calf for a longer length. It is meant to be oversized so size down if you don’t want that look. They recently fixed the fit of it so it’s slightly less oversized but I would still suggest sizing down. There’s a belt that you can tie in the back so you can wear the coat open layered over Madewell’s crewneck bodysuit and a flared stripe skirt from Victoria Beckham – it’s all about the high-low products! I’ve mentioned this boot before but the Staud Wally boots are amazing. The ones here are olive green suede and go perfectly with the outfit. The heel height makes the boot comfortable, it’s easy to slip on, and the pointed toe isn’t too dramatic.

COS also has a nice trench coat in a classic beige. Unlike the one from Oak + Fort, this one has an oversized collar, storm flap, epaulettes, and draped back panels. The price point is hard to beat at $250. With its slightly trendier take on a classic trench, pair this with a printed mini dress from Alexis and Mach & Mach bow chain platform heels for a dressed up, feminine look. Accessorize the whole look with a vintage Chanel mini flap bag and a fun heart-shaped lapis statement earrings.
